We’ve received an update from one of our readers on the A-Plus reports that are being ordered by some agents for their clients from NHD companies as a result of our story Agents: Don’t Recommend Services not Required by Law. Effective May 15, 2016 the A-Plus reports will no longer be available from anyone but Verisk. Below, we’ve included an email from Verisk confirming this change.
Last November, we also reported that the traditional industry standard C.L.U.E. report would no longer available through disclosure companies in our story Why Pay for A C.L.U.E. Report . We also provided information on how your client could get a prior homeowner insurance loss claim report for FREE by going directly to this site: https://personalreports.lexisnexis.com/ or call (866) 312-8076.
So, what is a safe practice for agents on the topic of any non-required reports? We recommend that agents do not advise/volunteer non-legally required reports like C.L.U.E. or A-Plus.
Here is the actual email from Verisk confirming the Termination of Agreement of their agreement with NHD providers:

Subject: ISO/Verisk A-PLUS Loss History Reports – Termination of Agreement
To Whom It May Concern:
Effective May 15, 2016, ISO will no longer supply A-PLUS™ Loss History Reports through third party Natural Hazard Disclosure (NHD) companies in California or in any other state. As soon as is practicable, NHD companies should inform their non-consumer customer’s accordingly.
Additionally, NHD companies must cease advertising their ability to order or facilitate ordering of an A-PLUS™ Loss History Reports from ISO.
NHD companies should advise their consumer customers to contact ISO directly to obtain a copy of their own A-PLUS™ loss history report. The consumer should obtain a “Request Disclosure Form” via regular mail or by telephone using the contact information below:
A-PLUS™ Consumer Inquiry Center
545 Washington Boulevard, 18th floor
Jersey City, NJ 07310-1686
Please let us know – is this news to you? How have you or agents in your office handled the request for an A-Plus Report? We’d love to hear from you.
