This house is in Flamingo Heights, a desert enclave about 20 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. It is less than five minutes from La Copine, a popular restaurant housed in an old diner, and from Giant Rock Meeting Room, which offers pizza and drinks along with live music and other events. The Integratron, a large wooden dome built in 1954 “for the purpose of rejuvenation and time travel,” according to its website, is 10 minutes away. For those with more mundane needs, a Vons supermarket is within a 15-minute drive.

Palm Springs and Big Bear are about an hour away. Driving to Riverside takes about 90 minutes. The Salton Sea is about a two-hour drive. Los Angeles is less than three hours away.

Size: 1,816 square feet

Price per square foot: $449

Indoors: This house, which is set back from the street, was recently taken down to the studs and rebuilt, and is being sold fully furnished.

The front door opens into a living room with wood floors, large picture windows and a built-in bench seat. Beyond is a dining area separated by slatted wood panels from a kitchen with white-enamel appliances, including an electric range with brass-toned accents. On the other side of the kitchen is a room used as a den, with another built-in bench seat and sliding-glass doors that open to a patio.

Three bedrooms are off a hallway extending from the dining area. The primary bedroom, at the far end, has a dressing area and more sliding-glass doors that open to the patio. The other two bedrooms each have enough space to hold a queen-size bed. They share a full bathroom off the hallway with a walk-in shower.

The fourth bedroom is off the dining room, behind a set of barn-style doors. It has the use of a full bathroom nearby.
